Since 2008, the Bell Centre has held the ICI ON RECYCLE + certification, awarded by RECYC-QUÉBEC, recognizing its waste management practices. In 2023, this certification was renewed at the Performance level, highlighting the implementation of concrete actions in source reduction, reuse, recovery, and awareness among fans and staff.

Key Achievements

  • More than 100 sorting stations with three or more compartments (organic waste, recycling, refundable containers, cardboard, and trash) have been installed throughout the arena, allowing fans to dispose of their waste responsibly.
  • A robot collects organic waste in the central kitchen, which is then sent to specialized facilities to be converted into renewable natural gas.
  • Refundable containers collected in the concourse sorting stations are sent to specialized facilities for repurposing, as part of the container deposit program.
  • Over 80% of food service containers are now compostable, and most plastic containers have been replaced with compostable or recyclable alternatives, including aluminum cups for beer and cocktails.
  • Since 2023, the Bell Centre has had an internal mini eco-center dedicated to collecting and sorting specific materials such as electronics, batteries, neon lights, paints, and aerosols for responsible recycling.
